The settings of a family which has a negative effect on family and boys. Mainly what the characters are inclined to do against each other, the dysfunctional family life and the one parent family. The story has increased my knowledge about gangs and the impact on boys, that positivity of one person is better than the adversity of a gang. The author Scott Monk message to boys is being in a gang, especially a criminal gang is a futile, it is informative in regards that boys can do positive things in their life, that the need to turn their back on gangs and violence.

The internal conflict was expressed more so in the midst of the story when the main character started his hike up to camp to find the boys and he realized it was a lot colder than he thought. During this time he remembered the old man from Sulphur Creek who told him about the weather previously before and that he shouldn’t go alone. The internal conflict came at an climax when the man realized he could freeze to death since he was not able to start a fire and his method of beating his hands to spark a feeling of sensation didn’t work. He was at anger with himself when he realized he was at fault with this predicament he was in, and coming to an end he accept his fate of death and died lying in the snow. This story relates to the societal message that people need people, if the main character would have just had someone with him he could of survived and would’ve made it back to camp, but he decided to go alone and being alone is what ended
Analysis of Joyce Carol Oates’ “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” Joyce Carol Oates writes a gripping tale of terror about a young girl named Connie, who is faced with the dark and twisted hands of fate. Connie is a young teen, like many girls, self-absorbed and seeks self-value in the eyes of others. In her outings with friends, she comes across a man by the name of Arnold Friend. Oates lets the reader know immediately that there is something disturbing about this character.

This story ‘Tomorrow when the War began,’ by John Marsden is about Australia being invaded by another country. Due to this invasion a character Ellie and her friends become isolated from their families in Wirrawee. The group of teenagers are imposed to discover their hidden strengths and learn important values and lessons about the real world they live in. These values and lessons begin with gaining courage and strength, learning how to fend for themselves when they come to a point where there is just them to fight for their country. The movie portrays several inferences and levels of the made up friendship between the main characters Greg and “the dying girl” Rachel during her struggle with cancer and the friendship between the two senior students in the same high school Greg and Earl. In this short stories “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allan Poe and “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkner, the authors represent the sense of horror in their stories. They are very similar in expressing their terrifying point of view. However, there are also differences. “The Tell-Tale Heart” is told in the first person perspective which creates compulsory picture of a mad murdered, whereas the third person perspective of “A Rose for Emily” shows Miss Emily through the eyes of others, which changes the narrative radically. In Addition, Miss Emily committed the crime because the fear of being alone.

On the Sidewalk Bleeding The story focuses on a 16-year-old young man named Andy and his last moments after being stabbed by a rival gang member in an alley. Andy does not yet know he is going to die tonight, but that he will. Andy slowly comes to the realization that he may die, and then that he certainly will die, in this dark alley. While he is lying there, unable to speak through the blood in his throat, Andy thinks about his girl Laura and what she must be thinking about him not returning to the dance, and about how much he loves her. He thinks about his identity as a Royals gang member and how wearing his Royals jacket has gotten him stabbed.

In this story there’s a gunman who’s attacking Harlem, the police officers can’t find the man, but when a group of children saw something move in an apartment the police officers starts shooting into the apartment. In the apartment they killed a dog and a little black boy.
