Texas Suffrage Amendment (2016). Article and section I want to Amend: Article 6 section 1 of 1, 3 and section 1 (b). Section as exactly as worded: Sec. 1. CLASSES OF PERSONS NOT ALLOWED TO VOTE. (a) The following classes of persons shall not be allowed to vote in this State: (1) persons under 18 years of age; (2) persons who have been determined mentally incompetent by a court, subject to such exceptions as the Legislature may make; and (3) persons convicted of any felony, subject to such exceptions as the Legislature may make. (b) The legislature shall enact laws to exclude from the right of suffrage persons who have been convicted of bribery, perjury, forgery, or other high crimes. Teenagers can now drive if or when they turn 16 years of age. Driving is a sort of responsibility and there are prove today that many teenagers with handicap parents in Texas can drive well on the road. lowering the voting age would increase turnout, allow teenagers to contemplate on issues that directly affect them and motivate schools to improve civic education. Texas has a very low turnout among people of voting age. This year, there were 14.7 republican voters turn out and 7.2 democrats turn out. Given the general dejection that faces this state political process currently, changing the voting age to 16 and upward will really get young people thrilled. Allowing 16- years old and upward the right to vote while still living with their parents would encourage a habit that will continue once they leave their nest. Teenagers who come from a non-politically active household tend to take on their parents political views, if such teenagers sees other teenagers participating in a local election, they would be encouraged to turn out putting behind their inherited non political participation views from their parents. Teenagers are the future of the states, the voting age adult who don’t turn out during election will soon expire and the youth who will eventually make it an habit to go vote will replace
