Fort Worth, Texas vs. Detroit, Michigan Have you ever thought about moving to a bigger city? Before you attempt to make such a move, you may want to research the places you are considering. Detroit is listed as the 2nd most dangerous city in the US, whereas Fort Worth is ranked #17 just within the State of Texas. Detroit is 1% safer than other Michigan cities and 3% compared to other cities across America. Fort Worth is safer then 10% of the cities in the United States. The two crimes that both states have in common are Violent Crimes and Property Crimes. Statistics show that there are 4,155 total crime in Fort Worth and 6,806 in Detroit. Violent crimes can be classified as Rape, Robbery, Assult and even Murder. In Detroit it's 342% higher than the rest of the state and 440% higher nationally. You have a 1 in 51 chance of falling a victim of these crimes. Property Crimes can be classified as Theft, Vehicle Theft and Burgulary. In Detroit it's 106% higher the remainder of the state and 76% higher than the national average. You have a 1 in 21 chance of being a victim of these acts of crime. In Fort Worth Texas you have a 1 in 225 chance of being a victim of violent crimes and 1 in 27 chance of becoming a victim in property crime. In Detroit you have an overall chance of 1 in 15 of being a victim and in Fort Worth a 1 in 25 chance of being a victim of crime. From 2012 to 2013 their has been a decrease in crime rate in both cities. Detroit's violent crime decreased by 6% and property crime decreased by 14% to where Fort Worth's total crime rate decreased by 13%.
