Most are in an agreement that the fundamentals of a great detective come from A Study in Scarlet. It is delivered through the eyes of John Watson to convey to the readers his perspective of the adventures with Sherlock Holmes. I propose that a video game should be made as an adaptation of those adventures. The narrator of the game will be the audience and they will have to solve crimes alongside the famous Sherlock Holmes. Everything will be told through the eyes of John Watson or Mary Watson to help put the decisions into the hands of the audience. The feelings of companionship, trust, and loyalty will all be displayed to give the audience an experience that they will never forget.
The reason why I chose a video game as a medium for my adaptation of A Study in Scarlet instead of other mediums is because it provides the best interaction with the audience. It is a reference to the BBC series “Sherlock Holmes”. The reason why I choice this title is because in life we learn to expect the unexpected and ultimately give in to things we cannot control. I based this ideology behind this video game as the overall message to the audience. Speaking of audience’s, “The East Wing is Coming” is rated M for mature. The reason why I’m giving this rating is because of violent crime scenes and the sad backstory of Jefferson Hope. In today’s market, humans under 17 may not be interested in a story based on a book that they may or may not have read before. Most adults have heard of Sherlock Holmes or even have read A Study in Scarlet. This may appeal more to them knowing their familiarity with detective stories.
