The song by Akon, “predictable”, can be used to examine and analyze the existing ideological strata in America, especially among the black community. The song however challenges the ideology that African Americans are generally gangsters and material wealth is not necessarily needed for social validation and success.
The song has created a narrative that African Americans are predictable in their social mobility hence their trajectory that involves incarceration. It is implied that from the time of birth, black Americans are destined to be gangsters; hence their predictability. The term “nigga” is consistently used to refer to an ethnic slur against black people because of their social, political, and economic status that has been characteristic of marginalization and discrimination.
