The Right to Live There are many different opinions about when life begins. Most believe that life begins at birth but that is not the case. Some believe that women should have the option to have an abortion and others do not agree with this. Some think that abortion is murder and others believe that the baby has not yet been born so it is not alive. Most believe that a baby is still human; therefor it should have the right to live no matter what. Many people are uneducated on this subject and are very ignorant about their opinions. “In May 2012, the Georgia governor signed a “20-week” abortion ban. Georgia was the 10th state to pass a 20-week ban.” (e77). This is still murder no matter when it is performed because each day the mother goes further into her pregnancy the baby continues to grow. Once a woman becomes pregnant she should not have the option to have an abortion, if she does not want the child then she can have the option to give it up for adoption. It is not ethical for a mother to go 20 weeks or possibly even longer and then decide to take her baby’s life before she even had the chance to meet it. Even though a child has not yet been born does not mean it should not have rights. Who is going to stand up for a child’s rights when it cannot speak yet? Everyone has equal rights and just because the child has not left the mother’s womb yet does not mean that it is not human. An unborn baby should have just as many rights as a everyone else has. The child has caused no harm so it should not be punished and executed for being unwanted. Mothers have many different and more ethical options rather than getting an abortion. A mother could provide her child to a family that has wanted a child for very long but was unable to conceive children on their own. Most women would agree that they would much rather see their child go to a loving family rather than end its life. All humans have emotions and deep down everyone knows that abortion is truly wrong. Abortions are gruesome and quick, women make their decisions about having an abortion too quickly. They need to educate themselves so they are aware of what will be happening to their baby. Once they realize that their baby’s life will be ended in a cruel way then hopefully it will change their mind. It is ultimately not fair that the father has no say in whether the baby will live or not. The father created the child equally with the mother so he should be able to decide if they should go forth with an abortion or not, just like how the mother gets to decide. If the father was able to
