The Air Up There Jimmy Dolan is an ambitious young assistant college basketball coach. He coaches for his Alma Mater, St. Joseph. Dolan has a lot of history with the St. Jo Bulls. He was their star basketball player back when he was a part of the team and he even led them to a National Championship back in 1981. But do to a career ending knee injury Jimmy lost all chances of becoming a professional basketball player. It is obvious that Jimmy somewhat blames the basketball program there at St. Joseph for his misfortune. When we get to meet the Bull’s head coach, Coach Fox, it is apparent that he feels bad for Jimmy. As if he knows that he is somewhat to blame. The way Jimmy Dolan comes into Africa offering an American education and promises of a professional basketball birth assuming that these Wannabi will jump at the chance. He believes that offering this kid a life in America and “the deal of a lifetime” would cause these African tribes men to jump for joy. Eventually Jimmy Dolan arrives in Wanabi where he finds his guy; the kid from the video. Unfortunately he is faced with a problem. Nobody likes him or trusts him here.
