Dreams are a process that which the dreamer knows it will be impacted by outside circumstances. The American is no different. Back in 1776 the first Dream of America was freedom, that why we fought in the revolutionary war. Susana Martinez said, "Success is the American Dream. And that Success is not something to be ashamed of, or to demonize." She means that Americans should focus on being successful at whatever they are good at and that they shouldn 't be scared to show it or to have people 's tease them. While the American Dream can be impacted by the time period, it can also vary based on the individuals perception of the dream. These external influences largely impact an individual 's perception of the American Dream. On key external influence is family through the eyes of hall of fame baseball player Yogi Berra. Mr. Berra grew up on The Hill here in St. Louis. He was a normal kid he went to work played ball had fun. He grew up from an immigrant even though he wasn 't a immigrant himself. He was very close to his family. His father had always believed in working, bring the check home every week (Philosopher of the Diamond). Mr. Berra once said,"You can observe a lot just by watching." That 's exactly what he did as a young kid. Mr. Berra knew was how to go to work, he had to get a work permit at fourteen to work at a shoe factory. That was because he observed the life that his parents had He always had a love for baseball and his parents always supported him. He had the drive passion and will power to make it to the MLB. Finally, The American Dream is not concrete rather it changes due to the events that occur in the current time period, and the individuals perception of the dream. See the Dream isn 't just set in stone, people make it what they want to make it. The people have the power to do and be what the want. To be what is inside of people in their heart is a very good thing. As Paul Ryan told us,"The principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense is key to the American idea"(Ryan).
