The Causes of the French Revolution: 1. The Enlightenment inspired the ideas of equality and liberty, which were basic principles of the French Revolution. To create that state of equality, it would mean that the French would have to completely overthrow the powers of time. 2. The American Revolution which had a significant impact on the French people, was majorly impacted by The Enlightenment. The French donated funds to support the American patriots during the Revolution, so the French king demanded more taxes making the people of France extremely angry. It made it known that the French Revolution was possible. 3. The ruler of France at the time was King Louis XVI, and he was a timid and weak leader. So much debt had been accumulated since
