From reading the title "One Art" and reading the first line of the poem, which says: "The art of losing", it first made me believe that the one art referred to the art of losing and that only. For lines 1 through 18, this indeed proves to be true, however, it is not until the last line of the poem where I realized another type of art is introduced-art that we write. Elizabeth bishop is telling readers to "Write it!", which is what she does in this poem. She expresses her feelings and details of loss through verse. Bishop introduces the art of losing as something that should be excepted as a part of life and not avoided, because despite our efforts towards trying to avoid it, it is one of those things that will happen naturally. She mentioned
