This case could be different if the social workers had investigated the background information about Dorothea Puente before they place older people in her hand. Dorothea already had criminal charges and was in prison for 5 years for drugging people. In addition, this could be another story if the social workers had investigated why elder people with health problems disappear without any explanation from Dorothea’s house, especially if more than two people already had disappeared. Finally, if the community (neighborhood) had called the police when there was a terrible odor in the garden, the police could investigate it sooner. Finally, there should be a law that obligate the community and hospital to inform about abuse/

Many Americans became frustrated and worried with the wave of poverty hitting the nation, becoming hopeless and living in poor conditions, where “lights were cut off…cut off the water”, and starvation began to take over, creating
People were forced to live in these conditions because they had nowhere else to go. Tenements were nowhere near safe. Constructers built new tenements often using cheap materials and construction shortcuts. (Tenements) Tragedy struck in 1849 when a cholera epidemic struck and took about five thousand lives.
I shadowed the Assisted Living Manager, Coley Rainbolt. As the assisted living manager, Coley has to complete monthly, quarterly, 6-month, and annual assessments for the assisted living residents on time. She has to schedule and lead care conferences in relation to residents’ needs and family expectations. She updates care plans and arranges all the resident care needs into task specific assignments for care associates. Along with all the residents she provides for, she also manages all assisted living care associates which consists of completing interim and annual evaluations timely and addressing performance concerns.

Many people are supported in their homes by people who work along side the health and social care service such as social workers, nursers ,doctor and care givers or they may get support from their family members and friends. An elderly person may choose to stay in their own homes instead of a residential care home while seeking help and support from others, however this can lead to potential opportunities for abuse happening to the person who Is being looked after. When an individual is getting support at home by a carer, the individual being cared for is vulnerable and defenseless and therefor this makes them a target for abuse, another example is abuse by strangers, when an elderly person lives alone they are at risk of people calling at the door and then gaining access to their homes, they may steal items from them or mistreat them or cause intimidation. A person who is vulnerable and living alone are at risk of physical and sexual because there is no one there to stop this abuse from happening.
During the preindustrial era, one of the noteworthy transformations seen in the health care field was the introduction of almshouses and pest-houses. Almshouses were established to take care of the poor and destitute people that had fallen ill. The notion would later be transformed into the first hospitals and nursing homes. Established in 1660 in Boston, the first almshouse acted in manners similar to welfare. Furthermore, they established a place to care for the lower class citizens including the poor, elderly, mentally insane, ill, disabled, and orphaned.
Many of the people that read these magazine articles could not begin to imagine the conditions that the lower class were having to work and live in. The journalists would describe the most horrid conditions possible in order to promote the change that they felt was necessary. In Jacob Riss’ article he describes how the dwellings that these unfortunate people had to live in caused countless deaths that could have been avoided. According to Riss, “With the first hot nights in June police dispatches, that record the killing of men and women by rolling of roofs and window-sills while asleep, announce that the time of greatest suffering among the poor is at hand.” (Riss Source 1).
This paper will be talking about the similarities with the Reformation and WWI. What is War? War is a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups within a nation or state. Sometimes we think that people in the past haven’t been to war before and it never started until 1914. People in the past had wars of beliefs or in Religion.
Based on the case study on pages 36-37 of our text and looking at the individual and financial needs of Don and Mary, I feel that they should both live in Assisted Living Facilities. According to our textbook, Assisted Living Facilities (ALF) provides assistance and supervision of activities of daily living for 24-hour. It offers more independence and privacy, a greater choices of services, and more involvement of direct care workers. (McSweeney-Feld & Oetjen, 2012, p. 25). As their care needs change, they can also opt to live in a Continued Care Retirement Communities (CCRC) which according to the book are residential complexes for seniors that offers housing options and comprehensive nursing care with their changing needs.
The elderly are a largely growing population but they are treated as a minority group. They are placed in assisted living care for numerous reasons such as convenience, health issues, and distress of the informal caregiver. Although assisted living may seem like the best situation for our aging society the movie suggests that this may not be the case. There are many special instances that the elderly have to deal with, such as elder abuse and fraud, as depicted in the movie. Further investigation must be applied in order to limit the number of events like those of Joan Boice, Merle, and George
Elderly prisoners have a hard time living in prison. The cause is that since they are old most of the younger inmates abuse of them. Most of them are sick meantally or physically. They dont really do much in a genarl prison. Thats why they are starting a new program called True Grit Señior Structure living program.
Every decade our population gets older and a whole new generation of seniors comes along with a new set of attitudes and expectations as to what they want from an assisted living facility. And now that people are living longer, there is a much greater need for these facilities. They can provide a refuge to many family members that may become severely burdened by the arduous task of taking care of a loved one who can no longer take care of themselves. When simple tasks such as bathing and feeding become near impossible to manage alone, not to mention driving to the store and shopping, decisions about placement into a home become paramount. Most important to the family members is the ability of the facility to provide the adequate care that is needed for their loved ones.
