This story (of mice and men) is about 2 friends that have been together for a long time. One friend is named George, George is like a big brother to the little brother named Lennie, Lennie is a little slow so he really doesn’t know what he really does. In this essay I'm going to be writing about whether or not students should be able to read Of Mice and Men based on the subject matter which is justified if George had a good reason in killing Lennie. I'm going to give my opinions on this book, so one reason you could have justified into George killing Lennie would be religion. If Lennie wanted to die then it would have been a reason and that reason is Euthanasia

No piece of literature should ever be ban : Of Mice and Men should not be ban from young adults and libraries. The literature classic promotes good life lessons for students to learn from such as friendship and motivation. Simply banning the book would contradict the right of free press under the first amendment of the constitutions. The book also provides a considerable amount of historical context. Even though the book contains a tremendous amount of racism , sexism , and vulgar language , in today’s media , we are exposed to a similar content.

This book is usually read by high school students around the age fourteen or fifteen, however many parents have gotten upset when hearing about what their kid was reading. I am writing to you to plead that you do not continue to censor and ban the novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck in schools in America. Steinbeck wrote this novella as an educated critique of American society during his life. Although there are many controversial topics throughout his writing, he wrote them to enhance the story. I plead that you discontinue the banning and censoring of Of Mice and Men because the profanity and controversy was purposeful and because it portrays a very accurate picture of the Great Depression. While Steinbeck frequently used profanity throughout the story, he arguably did so in order to enhance the story.
Of Mice and Men Many books are banned throughout the country because of its’ profanities, religious blasphemous, and racist comments. Many people have believed that certain books have too many adverse effects among students. The novel Of Mice and Men is guilty of providing these effects throughout the story. Parents have claimed that “there were more than 100 profanities used and it was irresponsible for teachers to have the audacity to have students read the novel aloud”(Richard Lee). Furthermore, this book shouldn’t be banned for discussing the struggles that are made during this era.
One day Lanie and her family were getting ready for the 12th of May, they were all scared and hoped that they wouldn't get chosen because their littlest was Jamey and she was 11. Then the day on the 12th of May Lanie, her family, and the rest of the community all have to line up to be counted. Lanie and all the people are scared because if the population of the community is over 400 then they will have to fight to death. The leaders of the community choose the youngest kids of four homes.

The two main characters are named George Milton and Lennie Small. Both are seen as almost brothers throughout the novella , but aren’t even related. The novella talks about their adventure looking for a job in order for them to start saving money for their farm. Lennie is a mentally challenged giant that acts like a kid throughout the whole novella.

Censorship gives authors constraints and limits that they must respect in order to avoid getting banned, acting as a threat towards them. The problem is that society does not appreciate the hidden meaning or reality of these books. The treatment of Humans and Animals How animals and humans are treated in John Steinbeck’s novel of mice of men. In the Novel Of Mice and Men, animals are usually treated as a helpful creature and the eventually they get rid of them when they do not really need them anymore. In one of the scenes in the novel Candy’s dog is really sick and Carlson was playing cards with slim until he glanced at Candy's dog and told him that “ the dog is no good no more and he should shoot it” (Steinbeck 47) but Candy says no because he is too close to the dog and loves him and the dog is too loyal to him just to kill him.. Sue Carlson has an idea and it was that he could shoot it himself (Steinbeck 48).

John Steinbeck has been “hailed by the Nobel Prize judges in 1962 for his realism and sympathetic humor” that is incorporated into Of Mice and Men; however, he has also been criticized because of its discrimination towards specific members of society, the concept of euthanasia, and inappropriate language (Lea). Of Mice and Men should have its position on the shelves of school libraries all across the country removed. The most important reason that Of Mice and Men should not be allowed to be read in schools is because it directly discriminates against

It opens a door that many people are scred to admit exsit,they prefer to ignore the problem rather that to adress it. Mice and Men deals with the issues of racism, deadth,poverty and fasle hope. This book shoudnt be banned because it teaches lessons in life. It shows that not eveything in life is perfect,people should realize that not everything you want in life will happen and that sometimes no matter how hard you work for something it might no pay off.
Would you kill your best friend if you had the option for a better death? An interesting book written by John Steinbeck, is full of adventure and mishaps, George a small intelligent guy, is best friends with Lennie, an oversized mental man not sure of his own strength. Lennie makes a lot of bad decisions for George to always take care of, and now George cannot cover for him anymore so he has to decide whether or not to kill his best friend or let someone else do it. George ends up making the right decision by killing Lennie his self because Lennie isn’t safe anymore and he gives him a more peaceful death.
The book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck took place in California during the Great Depression. The Great Depression started because the stock markets crashed all around the world. The United States didn’t recover until 12 years later, the end 1939. Most people had poor living conditions and women didn’t have many rights during that time period. Many of the children had to leave school to help support their families on the farm doing farm work.
Of Mice and Men is John Steinbeck’s most successful early novel containing elements of social criticism shaped by this real life experience. Steinbeck drew his inspiration for the work from his experience living and working as a “bindlestiff” during the 1920’s. Instead of graduating from Stanford University, Steinbeck chose to support himself through manual labour whilst writing. His experience amongst the working classes in California lent authenticity to his depiction of the lives of the workers - who are the central characters of this novel; and the social issues that ensue. To further emphasize the loneliness of the itinerant worker Steinbeck then decides to set the novel near Soledad, California, a town name that means “Solitude” in Spanish.
