Literature has impacted the world in a major way. It has helped start cultures and what happens in that culture, shaped political parties and can be used to change people’s view on many different subjects. It has even helped us to see a subject from another person’s point of view on a topic and help us understand where they are coming from even more. A lot of religious cultures rely on literature to keep their beliefs alive. The Bible was written hundreds of years ago and is still used today. It influences people to better themselves and to see almost everything about their lives in a new light. This helps them form their own imagination when they are not the one that has created the story they are reading. They get to picture the people how the book says they look or completely different, depending on how they read. Keeping people creative is a way to help transform society. New ideas make new products, which can form new technology and get new businesses on the market and can get farther in medical research. A lot of people do not realize how powerful books can be. In 2013 over three hundred books were challenged and banned. “This mirror is placed in front of you when you read something that has you nodding along and thinking, yes, that is how it is. You just found a part of yourself.” (Zapada). Finding yourself is something that most people today struggle with, not only teenagers but even adults who have graduated from college and are moving on in their lives. “You feel like you've been searching this whole time for this moment, but never knew that. The author has perfectly described the world (your world), or reminded you of your past, shone a light on your core beliefs, or lit up that dim hope you carry.” (Zapada).
