The birth of Venus is an art painting by Sandra Botticelli while ‘Stanze di messer Angelo Politiano cominciate per la giostra del magnifico Giuliano di Pietro de' Medici’ is a poem written by Angelo Polizano. They both share a common theme. The theme of beauty is evident in The Birth of Venus, Sandro Botticelli, (c. 1482). Tempera on canvas. Uffizi, Florence. It is also apparent in The Stanze of Angelo Poliziano, David Quint (2010). However, the original poem by Angelo was written between 1475 and 1485. The cultural location of this painting is the Italian Renaissance while its physical setting is the seashore. The theme of beauty also manifests itself in the contemporary art of Whisper, Adrien Miller (2016). Reclaimed clay. The poem by Angelo has its cultural setting that is very similar to the Venus painting. For instance, Botticelli uses the term Venus which is a Latin word meaning goddess of beauty. Culture and traditions played a significant role in influencing these two pieces of art because they are based on mythologies which were common in ancient cultures. For instance, in ancient Greek, nudity was considered sacred. This element is evident in the Venus painting. The goddess hides her nakedness even as she reveals her beauty.
The contemporary art of Whisper by Adrien Miller reveals an expression of beauty in the contemporary culture. This art is crafted from clay as opposed to canvas. Unlike the birth of Venus and the poem by Angelo, this piece of art reveals that people are different, but they are all beautiful. It also shows that beauty is inherent.
