There are many ways a perspective can be changed on a person or a situation. “The Body-Snatcher, “written by Robert Louis Stevenson is an incredible example of this. Reading threw the text and watching the film clearly gives off two different feels and emotions on the characters in the story. The comparison of the film and text shows the importance of knowing the complete story before you cast judgment on someone. Breaking down the text it’s easy to point the finger at DR. Macfarlane, and giving him the title as the monster in this story. Also throughout the text it seems that both Dr. Macfarlane and Fettes are committing these crimes for their own self-interest. The text gives the impression that the relationship between these two grew with each body that they stole. Fettes started off as a humble man who wanted to better himself as a doctor. He begins to work with Dr.Macfarlane, one of the most well-“known doctors throughout the town. According to the text “Fettes became instantly sober; his eyes awoke, his voice became clear, loud, and steady, his language forcible and earnest. We were all startled by the transformation, as if a man had risen from the dead. “(The-Body Snatchers) this shows that Fettes was either shocked and surprise to hear the name of Dr. Macfarlane. As the story carries on, Fettes gets closer to Dr. Macfarlane and begins to adopt his traits. This is shown when Dr.Macfarlane encourages Fettes to ignore the fact the girl was most likely murdered “This was the tone of all others to affect the mind of a lad like Fettes. He agreed to imitate Macfarlane. The body of the unfortunate girl was duly dissected, and no one remarked or appeared to recognize her” (The-Body Snatchers 11). Proving the closer the two become to each other, they grew more monstrous in the eyes of the audience. The reason for this is because the text shows that Fettes and Dr.Macfarlane were involved in Body-Snatching for their own personal gain. Analyzing Robert Louis Stevenson’s version of “The-Body Snatchers,” Gray character is very hidden and mysterious. It’s clear to see there’s a relationship between Gray and Dr. Macfarlane but it’s unclear to the audience what the relationship is completely. This being the case it’s easy to overlook the role he truly plays inside the text. But, it is clear that the relationship between the two isn’t a healthy one as Dr.Macfarlane kills Gray according to the text “ “. This portion of the text gives the impression that Gray was indeed murdered by Dr. Macfarlane proving that the relationship between Gray and Dr.Macfarlane ran deeper then what the text gave off. The way the story ends shows Dr.Macfarlane wicked ways had come back to haunt
