The Gospel of Matthew The Bible is filled with many books, crazy stories, and truth. The book that begins the New Testament, Matthew, is one of the most well-known books of the Bible. Matthew is the first book of the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) and contains the famous Sermon on the Mount. Just like any historical or religious book, Matthew introduces several controversial topics. The history of Matthew is not crystal clear and, in fact, partly unknown.
The earliest manuscript of Matthew is said to have been found in 1892 by Vincent Scheil. Other manuscripts were discovered shortly after in not-so-well conditions; many words are ineligible and the writings torn. In Matthew, varieties of women are mentioned; from prostitutes to queens. Until the New Testament, it was rare finding examples of women being used to advance God's kingdom in the Bible. In the New Testament, especially in Matthew, several vulnerable women and prostitutes are used for God’s plan. For example the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:21-28), who Jesus healed her demon-possessed daughter. Many people believe that women cannot be leaders like men, according the Bible. But, others disagree because of the strong women that became leaders and very important figures.
