The book of Psalms, one of the Books of Wisdom, showed how a combination of songs and poems can express the joys of nature as well as exemplify praise and thanks God. Daniel Estes believed that the book of Psalms was written by many different authors and “originated long before the extant collection was brought together” (Estes 141). The ideology behind Psalms was to keep it universal and general so that many people will be able to understand the meaning behind each hymn. These songs were created to communicate with God by expressing worships in his name as well as asking for his mercy. The concept behind this method is that by using “patristic writers, medieval commentators, and modern devotional authors,” (Estes 147) they concluded that the text is referring to Christ as well as his kingdom. But as time progresses, other interpretations come to fruition such as deconstructing and evaluating the different genres and literary types. This was done in order to determine the living conditions of those during the time. These passages show, not only everyone believes that God is the true father of all and that he should be praised, but that he should not be considered equal but someone of a higher entity. Some of the stories, poems, or songs, show how an individual voices their emotional problems in life. By seeking out the wisdom of the Lord, the Book of Psalms is able to capture the emotions that come with spiritual clearness as they rejoice in the Lords name. As Psalms 23:1 says, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalms 23:1 NKJV) his children are no more than sheep whereas the Lord is the shepherd. The shepherd knows what is best for the flock no matter what the circumstances may pertain. While people looked to God for guidance, the book of Psalms also says to fear him as he has no equal, he is the supreme being that rules over all. While some find the clarity that they so desired, others show deep emotions or anger or frustration with the actions of God by questioning the very essence of God’s power. They believe that God should protect them from all evil, but instead allowing for a tragedy to take place. By showing both sides of the coin, one can truly grasp the emotion that some have on God. While He can guide people through hardship, He will not completely remove hardship from one’s life. Life’s struggles is what make a person who they are. The struggles that humans come
