The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas Characters Most of the characters in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas are complex. Not just the main characters, but many others as well. The Fury, Father and Shmuel are very important characters in the book who each have quite a lot of traits, which are shown through their emotions, personalities and actions. I think one of the most interesting characters is the Fury. He has been brought up a quite lot by the other characters. One of his obvious traits is that he is rude. It is mentioned quite a lot, therefore it must be important. After Bruno had encoun-tered the Fury he said to himself that the Fury was the rudest guest he had ever seen. A trait that has also been told outside the book is that he is bossy. You can tell that he knows he's the boss by all his actions. An example is, he sat down in the chair at the head of the table. The head is father's seat, and with him knowing he is in a higher position he does whatever he wants. He knows he’s a leader and the boss. And so does everyone else. Bruno is scared to argue, the servants keep their mouths shout, the moment people hear fathers voice, they listen immediately. Especially the soldiers. He can be calm, soft and kind at certain moments but around his soldiers, he is definitively known as the boss. Secondly, he is a very loud commandant and he should be. No matter where he is inside or outside and around the house you can hear him yelling. When in the office, Bruno can hear him from upstairs pretty well yelling at mother and or the soldiers. These two traits tie together, part of the reason he’s the boss is because he’s loud, which makes him even more controlling and feared by the others so that they obey
