The French revolution is an undoubtedly humorous, ironic, and short lived rebellion, being the products of the revolution were not impactful after the revolution which is a different story. Though The French revolution effects were short lived, it still made a brutal impact on the French society during that short lived moment. There were several factors that fueled the French Revolution some factors more important than others. Like many others I think the French peoples thoughts and actions on rebellion were inspired by the American Revolution. The American Colonies had just undergone a war against Britain in which the French played a big part. The wars lead to America’s independence; this had an effect on how they would deal with their revolution factors such as the tax reformation, and throwing out an absolute monarchy. But first in order for the American Colonies to be independent from England they had to fight a war, a war in which they would need outside help. America called on the French to help them fight what would be called the Seven Years War which took place between 1756 and 1763. The French gave the military help to America but that wasn’t enough. This system was too inefficient and oppressed to many people. Philosophies of enlightenment are what set the flame to begin the rebellion. Brains of John Locke, and Montesquieu were throwing out their philosophies. The French people wanted to redesign their countries policies and century old institutions and ideals such as absolute monarchy and the feudal system. Similarly to the American Revolution the French were influenced by the ideals of enlightenment such as popular sovereignty.
