My nomination for the best short story is “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allen Poe in 1846. Some of the elements of fiction that presented within the story consist of the following feature the point of view which told from the 1st person perspective. The short story illustrates that revenge is not always the best policy! The mood of the story uses is through suspenseful, dark and ominous. These strategies are a descriptive approach that involves danger and gloom long, dark passages. It was a believed to be a spiritual ritual like Christian do in the event of fasting as an offering up to God as a religious abstinence of food or drink, in this case, it was meat. It is known as the day before Ash Wednesday, which is set aside as self-denial for a meat product. The conflict in the stories based on characters Fortunato versus character Montresor. The conflict is that Fortunato is always insulting Montresors and this makes him want revenge against him. These were the main two characters within the story “The Cask of Amontillado.”When analyzing each of these traits, role Montresor characters portrayed as a protagonist, which is the kind individual within the story. His families’ background consisted of being on the high end of the spectrum of the social class, which means they were rich. When a person is well endowed, they often make some irrational beliefs or perceptions. For example, initially, they believed that Fortunato was a friend of Montresors however, later they would see him as a threat. Fortunato was not Montresors friend but rather intelligent and cunning making himself appear as a joker who liked horsing
