Grandfather shoots but misses. The tall robber jumps on Grandfather and chokes him. Mattie grabs the sword and cuts the robbers shoulder. After she threatens to cut his heart out the robber dashes away. When the robber leaves Grandfather, trying to stay alive, tells Mattie that he loves her and then dies.

Nearly every character in the play is put to the test to display an act of courage, weakness, or truth. Some characters lack these traits and never learn to have courage or display honesty. However, most characters are very courageous and demonstrate these acts throughout the whole play. Overall the theme of the The Crucible boils down to being about honesty, weakness, and courage.

One significant theme that is prevalent throughout the play is lies and deceit. Miller applies the theme of lies and deceit all throughout the play because practically all the characters are lying either to themselves or other individuals which plays a hefty role in the plot.

In a series of events the effects of lying are displayed with their own individual consequences and one problem leading to another and another and eventually to an tragic end. From the beginning of the play, The Crucible, the reader was introduced to the young girl Abigail who initially started the trails of lies that caused the downfall of Salem and its justice.
The Crucible by Arthur Miller has many lessons to learn from. One of The major lesson I thought that is important is honesty. The accusations throughout the story were built on lies from those trying to protect their own name, and putting the town into confusion. Nobody in Salem, Massachusetts felt like they could trust anymore, after all of the false allegations made. If Three characters in the story would have been honest from the beginning, the town would not have been in such confusion.

They make the verdict to change because they realize that they should’ve been friends all along. Once they have agreed to become associates, they work together to try to get out of the forest by calling their men loudly. Lying is the most committed sin. Everyday people lie whether small or big. Every human knows that lying should not be exercised, but sometimes, in certain situations, lying is necessary due to the consequences of telling the truth. In the Bible, James 3:8, quoted is “But no human being can tame the tongue, it is a relentless evil, full of deadly poison.”
The play The Big Lie from Ten/Two is about a teacher and a student who have an interesting and unexpected interaction. The teacher is surprised and angry to find that one of her student was trying to sneak into her class but the plot twist was that the student was not sneaking in because he was late in actuality he was early. This turn of events gives the play a comedic and over dramatic tone. I wanted to use this unexpected twist to create a play that was really dramatic in order to give the audience something to laugh at. I wanted to use certain parts of the play to let the actors be as over the top as they can be in order to create the comedic drama that I wanted.

The American dream was created to give people hope in a hopeless world. The book Of Mice and Men really proves this, the character Lennie, he has a mental handicap and has to be taken care of, the author makes sure that he could never have this dream. Lennie and George, the man who has grown up with Lennie and takes care of him, have dreamt of owning a farm and having rabbits amongst other wildlife. Because George has to take care of Lennie he cannot have this dream, people with responsibilities
