The United States Constitution is one of the if not the most important document in American history. The Constitution defines what we live by each day and what America abides by. However, the Constitution in effect now is not the first one we had. The first Constitution was an extreme failure and it was called The Articles of Confederation, this document was a disaster and a waste of time. It halted our growth as a country and even damaged it because of how discombobulated it was. Nevertheless the Constitution that is in effect now was written from a different lens, and that caused a much different outcome when this succinct piece of work was written. From that idea the rest of the Constitution worked, and that led to great success. America obtained its independence by winning the Revolutionary war against Great Britain, soon after the Articles of Confederation was signed. Those articles were America’s first Constitution and even though when it was written the founding fathers believed it to be something useful to the country it was the exact opposite. The Articles of Confederation was written in such a way that each state had power over their own territory and what happened there. The national government, on the other hand, had no power, but the ability to ask the states for things. The national government couldn’t hold an army only supervise soldiers given to them, couldn’t ask for taxes they could only use the money given to them by the states, and the national government was distraught. There was no balance on what was happening in America it was chaos within the country because no one could do the proper thing without
