I strongly believe that the creature in Gris Grimly’s book, “Frankenstein” is a human. I believe this because one, he has the characteristics of a human along with a human-like personality. Two, throughout the book he makes mistakes and humans are fully capable of making mistakes, so it shows that he has human nature because humans are prone to making mistakes. Three, he has the same emotional characteristics as a human. This is why I strongly believe that the creature in Gris Grimly’s book, Frankenstein, is a human.

For example in the text it says, “His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness…” (Grimly, #41). Although some of his characteristics are different then common human ones it doesn’t make him any less human. For example his “yellow skin”, it may not be the same tone as your skin or my skin but skin comes in many different tones and yellow skin does occur in some cases. For example yellowing of the skin is known as jaundice, so it’s very possible for a human to obtain yellow skin. Even though he has a rare skin tone he also has black hair, in fact around 75-85% of humans have some shade of black hair. In the text Victor makes a huge mistake by not owning up to the fact that Justine wasn’t the one who truly killed his little brother William. In the text it says, “ I wandered like an evil spirit, for I had committed deeds of mischief beyond description horrible.” (Grimly #72). This shows Victor knows he’s made a mistake and feels intense guilt about it.
