After I read the book American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang. The stories of the book consists of three separate part. The first part I the story of Sun Wukong which is the monkey king. He has been lived for thousands years. He had amazing powers, he can fly or change his body smaller or bigger. When he got rejected to join the ranks of gods. Then he started to defeat many gods. Because what he did, he was buried under a mountain by Tze-Yo-Tzuh. A god that created all of existence. The second part of the story is about a boy name Jin Wang, he was new to San Francisco with his family from China. He’s very quiet and don’t like to communicate with others in the school. From his appearance and outfit. He’s having small eyes, rabbit teeth, sallow skin, and predictably Chinese clothing. Chin-Kee’s stereotypes are emphasized by the style of the illustrations. And also showing steretype from Chin-Kee’s talk. In page 35. Chin-kee try to say “so sorry, so very sorry”. But what he came out with accents is so solly, so velly sorry. Chin-Kee continually switches his “L’s” for “R’s” and vice versa during speech. It also showing stereotype by how white people react to the American Chinese Jin Wang. Many Chinese or other color people always been judge by White peoples. In page 32. When Jin Wang he’s having lunch, and his classmates come and shout out to Jin’s that stay away from my dog. And it show stereotype by Jin’s lunch. Because most of Chinese they would eat dumpling and use chopsticks for lunch. Second, Stay away from my dog this text is trying to say that Chinese people they eat dog. Therefore, this is stereotypical. White student they are judging Jin Wang’s culture, tradition, and history. As a Chinese and a immigration, I very understand Jin Wang's thought. When i was new to United State. I was very shy to talk with others. Not because I don’t want to know new friend. More because my English. I also had a strong Chinese accents and even now, I do not know if others native English speaker they would love to be friend with me or Not. And also I am afraid of others
