It was a chilly December night. Mr.Clemens is a 72 year old man laying in bed just about to turn in for the night. Walter Cronkite, the murderer, claims he killed the old man to get rid of the “evil eye.” Detectives question him long and hard but get little information. They know how Cronkite killed Clemes, yet they don’t have a solid motive. Despite this, he keeps repeating one thing, “the evil eye.”

Detectives piece together how the night went down. Walter had actually been watching Samuel Clemens every night for a week before the killing. On the eight night, Cronkite states the “evil eye” was open so he decided to act. Cronkite pulls a mattress over Samuel and slowly suffocates him. Then he dismembers Samuel’s body and carefully places the pieces under the floorboards. There are no blood stains or any evidence to prove it was Cronkite who murdered Clemens. The only way officials found out was the fact that Walter confesses after according to police, “Going hysterical.” …show more content…

They meet Walter Cronkite, who seems to be visibly upset. Nevertheless, he gladly greets them and asks them why they are here so late. Official respond with, “A neighbor reported a shriek and we are here to what happened.” Cronkite lies claiming the shriek was his own, caused by a bad dream. In spite of this, Cronkite invites them to search and search well. After a long search and nothing to bat an eye at, Walter invites them to stay and calm their fatigues. This was a fatal mistake on Walter’s part as for clear no reason, he begins to go insane in to middle of the room. He ultimately confesses to killing Samuel Clemens and is taken to
