Girls Lie. When living in a community with people, members begin to build trust, and see the people for who they are. When members in the community begin to get close, they learn who tells the truth and who lies. When Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible he went along with this idea. In The Crucible the story explains this situation in a very clear way. Miller depicts a group of girls in a way that makes them seem like the best children you have ever seen. As the story evolves, the girls show their true selves, and begin to tear their small town apart. The girls in the community began to bond together and lie about conjuring spirits. They begin to do this because an investigation on the situation will being. The girls do not want to be caught for what they had done, so they must hide the truth. The girls could not be caught this late into the lie. Francis tried to tell the court that the girls were lying by telling them “Excellency, we have proof for your eyes, god forbid you shut them to it. The girls sir, the girls are frauds.” (Miller 1250) When the court brought the girls in for questioning, they began to create a scene about a “bird” that was trying to kill Abigail. This caused a major ruckus in the court and had caught the judge’s attention. This caused Mr. Proctor to be imprisoned. They girls stuck together and executed the plan. In The Crucible, the daughters of the town’s folk are calling the shots! Arthur Miller does a marvelous job in proving that in his writing. He explains how the girls are taking control of the community and making all the decisions. The girls have ruined many lives and have caused death and mistrust.
