In the Crux, Gilman tried to describe that feminism will never separate itself from the motherhood. She tried to show that women by nature are willing to scarify anything for their children or future children. Also Gilman discussed sexual disease and how it affects marriage.
I believe that women are willing to give up anything for their children. Gilman view of women as independent and future creator. Gilman believe that women’s duty is to produce healthy children. So women should be take care of themselves and protect themselves from any sexual disease that would harm their future children. During chapter nine Vivian and the love of her life are getting along. Bellair knows about Morton sickness and from her who perspective and exercise Vivian cannot marry him. The reason is if Vivian would marry him she would not have healthy children. Dr. Bellair herself married a guy who had the same diseases as Morton and she could not have healthy children. Women duty is having heathy children from Dr. Bellair believe. I believe having heathy children is both women and men duty. Once Morton proposed marriage and Vivian accepts, Dr. Bellair sets herself on duty to end this engagement on the strength of one bit of knowledge, that Morton has syphilis.
