Rain reminds him of silence but not emptiness which he likes because when it rains, it feels like the rain is speaking to you with the silence noise they make speaks, it feels like it talking in silence but not an empty silence. This connects to why he likes rain because Christopher doesn't like interacting with people the noise and sound they make aren't as peaceful as silence as rain it is, their silence is more aggressive and large.
