Asperger's Syndrome, a form of Autism Spectrum Disorder, is a developmental disorder. People with Aspergers Syndrome have a difficult time relating to other people's actions and behaviors. Mark Haddon's novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, is a murder mystery written by a teenager with Asperger Syndrome. Christopher plans to investigate the death of his neighbor's dog. Christopher has Aspergers Syndrome and relates to the same emotions and feelings as an animal. Christopher is scared of people touching or yelling at him. He also needs help understanding human emotions and feelings. He does end up conquering his fears when trying to find his mother. Since Christopher has Aspergers Syndrome, he feels the same feeling as an animal. Therefore he barks when people get too close to him and doesn't like loud noises. Christopher states, “ I do not like people shouting at me. It makes me scared that they are going to hit me or touch me and I do not know what will happen”(Haddon 4). When Christopher is getting yelled at he always tries to back away from the person yelling at him because he is scared he will get hit.
