In the beginning, Papa predicts Dede’s future and not any of her sisters’ futures which inform readers that not only are all the sisters’ special but that Dede has her part to continue the legacy of her sisters. After living under the control of Trujillo, an evil and corrupt president, the sisters risked their own lives by starting rebellions and joining movements secretly against Trujillo. Dede, who didn’t join the rebellion, watched helplessly as her family fell apart: First, with the death of Papa, and later on the deaths of her sisters who were arrested. These sisters were nicknamed Mariposa which means butterflies to show how fearless they were to stand up for their beliefs.

For the past five years, I have watched my amiable grandmother unconditionally care for my ailing grandfather. My grandfather was diagnosed with alzheimer's and dementia. At the earlier stages of his sickness, I remember visiting for Easter when I was much younger. My parents told my brothers and I that grandpa probably will not remember our names but to be patient with him. I did not think too much of it since, at that time, my grandpa seemed to be his normal self.

Caswell demonises the drugging of the “Babies” by showing the lead researcher and main antagonist Larsen as a quite evil man. Numerous ideas are portrayed in Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” and my symbol represents the idea that has affected me the greatest. This particular idea is based around gender inequality and discrimination; which is still a major issue today. ‘Females are taught from a young age that women are inferior to men and are expected to act a certain way’ is the idea reflected by my symbol. The colour differences of the weights (pink and blue) stereotypically represent the different genders.
More than 12,000 children under the age of 15 passed through the Terezin Concentration Camp, also known by its German name of Theresienstadt, between the years 1942 and 1944. Out of all the children, more than 90% lost their lives during the time of the Holocaust. Additionally, throughout this time, children would write poetry describing how they would like to be free and their faith in believing they would one day be free again and see the light of the sun. They would also write about the dreadful experiences they suffered through. To add on, the poet’s word choice helps to develop the narrator’s point of view.
