The Demon Character In The Merchant And The Demon

123 Words1 Pages
The demon character in “The Merchant and the Demon” appears to behave in a different way than other supernatural beings the moment he does not kill the merchant as one would expect, instead the demon has a conversation with the merchant as to why he must die and also, he raises his sword three times to strike the merchant and does not kill him. The demon also behaves differently when he allows the merchant to return home to bid good-bye to his family and take care of his affairs. Most supernatural beings would have killed the merchant instantly, however, the demon allows the merchant to live as if the demon forgot about the merchant killing his son.
