The main characters, Walker and Keira faced many difficult complications in the book. Keira’s life was always stressful and never . She threw herself into doing something she was passionate about, playing the piano. She dedicated herself into spending as much time as possible with the musical instrument which her ‘uncle’ left her after he supposedly passed away. Ever since then, playing the instrument became her escape and took the problems away for awhile. Until Walker, the other main character decided to make an appearance and moved to Sherwin. From there she started to have more problems in her life.
The complication is when Walker was supposed to capture her when he couldn’t bear to, as she would have been immediately executed if she was brought back to his torn and destroyed world. His higher officials and authorities caught on and sent other seekers to get the girl themselves. Together Keira and Walker attempted to escape while he filled her in everything about his world, why he moved to Sherwin and what his intentions towards her were at first.They got caught by the officials and their men, just after the pair successfully got …show more content…

She figured out that using her talent and playing the piano to produce music could fix their torn world back together, but she needed Walker while playing. She couldn’t produce the ‘right’ sounds from the piano until they were physically together. Keira used this to her own advantage negotiating with the juries to make a deal. If they repaired the ruined world, they would be free to go. Together with him she played the piano and the newly strengthened fabric of Darkside started to form, and they were then finally excused to go back to the human world. The father however was turned into a prisoner and left in the Darkside prison. When they came back to the human world Keira’s parents split. This situation proves that the story doesn’t have an overall happy
