Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbor changed the fate of the war. This single attack brought the United States into World War II. For two years before this attack America didn’t fight in this war, but this attack ultimately changed the outcome of the war. For the first two years the United States did not fight in World War II, but they did supply resources to allies. America did not want to be a target for enemy countries. President Franklin Roosevelt called December 7, 1941, "a date which will live in infamy." Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in order to destroy the Pacific fleet so the U.S. would not be able to fight back as they spread across the South Pacific. After Japan attacked Pearl Harbor America joined the war. This single attack killed more
