The objectives of this experiment were to use knowledge of chemical formulas and chemical nomenclature to experimentally determine the empirical formula of copper chloride. Common laboratory techniques were used to conduct a reaction between copper chloride and solid aluminum in order to get rid of the water of hydration. The amount of water of hydration in the sample of copper chloride hydrate was calculated by measuring the mass before and after heating the sample. Afterwards, an oxidation-reduction reaction was conducted, resulting in elemental copper.

Greece, the Brass Kingdom Greece is mentioned in the book of Daniel through symbolism, and the one mentioned in king Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a statue is especially fascinating. Many wonder why God would have given this non-Christian king this dream, Ellen White said in Prophets and Kings, that God has given this dream to the king mainly to let him know that there is a powerful God who controls the time, the kingdoms, and the people (503). The historical record validates Greece as the third kingdom refereed to in Daniel two, proving God’s word to be true. The statue of king Nebuchadnezzar’s dream decreases its value from top to bottom, but the strength of the metal increases. As Daniel gives the interpretation, he refers the head of gold as Babylon, arms and chest of silver as Medo-Persia, belly and thighs of brass as Greece, legs of iron as Rome, and feet of iron and clay as the divided Europe.

The United States flag is an emblem. An emblem with many facets that mean starkly different things depending on the perspective, some not so pleasant. In the beginning with the best of intentions at heart this nation was founded and our flag stood for liberty, freedom, and justice for all. As the years have passed the meaning has shifted and molded to fit the ever changing ideology of those who call the United States home. ????
Steinbeck uses pots as a contextual symbol to give the reader a hopeful tone at the beginning of the story. A pot contains and stores something inside of it. In “The Chrysanthemums”, Steinbeck uses repetition when referring to pots. First, by describing the farmland as a “closed pot”, then the pots that the stranger mends for money, and finally the flower pot that Mrs. Allen gives her chrysanthemum in and later finds out that he had kept. The farmland being referred to as a “closed pot” may symbolize how Mrs. Allen feels about being closed off from other parts of the world.
In Trifles, Glaspell uses visual symbols surrounding the murder of Mr. Wright to showcase the different scenes that men and woman saw in the same setting, ultimately leading men to their own failure. The kitchen, quilt, and canary/cage are a few of the many symbols that the men overlooked as they were more concerned about forensic evidence. Furthermore, the same symbols were valued in the women’s perspective which allowed the women to determine the reason behind the death of Mr. Wright. By feeling sympathetic and identifying elements of their own lives, Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale determined that there was misery found in Mrs. Wright marriage, which is why she murdered her husband. The symbolism behind a heart is simple: eternal friendship, unconditional love, or passionate adoration. When included in a tattoo, however, the symbolism behind a heart branches into a wide range of topics, from love to death, a passion for music to Christ’s Passion. While many associate the origin of the heart symbol with certain aspects of the female body, other theories suggest that the heart symbol originates from ancient medical practices. Ancient civilizations once utilized the Silphium plant as a means of contraception. The heart-shaped seeds or fruits of the Silphium plant are reminiscent of the traditional heart shape we are familiar with today.
