Since the beginning of history, there have always been heros. Many different stories have been passed down and shared over the years. Heros come and go but the enduring qualities we look for in a hero does not. Although two different types of heroes may have nothing in common, the qualities that give them the name “hero” stay the same. Ancient greek heros and heros today get the name by being brave and determined, but unlike todays heros, Ancient Greek heroes get their qualities from the cruel behaviors they engaged in, like Odysseus. The difference between the heros aren't the qualities that make them, but the way the receive the quality. The enduring qualities of heros are bravery and humility.

Firstly, she risked her life for children she did not even know and still, Irene did not think of herself as a hero. According to Lowell Milken Center, “Irene would have nightmares every night asking herself “Did i do enough?”” Sendler did not feel like she did enough when really, she did more than most citizens would. Not only did her bravery play a major part in her becoming a hero, but her humility was a big part. Instead of bragging and being obnoxious about her deed, she felt guilty because she thought she could have done more.

On the other hand, the ancient shared the same heroic qualities but portrayed them in different ways. When Odysseus did something heroic, he was very cocky about it shouted it out. An examples of this was when odysseus beat the cyclopes he said “How did you like the beating we gave you?” This shows he believes that he is better than everyone and he wants everyone to know that he is amazing. Even though today we look at Odysseus as being a cocky person rather than a hero, the Greek society valued the way they shouted themselves out, which made him an epic hero. Even though the humility of Irene and odysseus was portrayed differently, it made them the hero they
