In chapter three we learned about the colonies and how they were established and what aspects of development helped the colonies thrive. In the discussion one of the topics we were asked to discuss about asks what two things united the colonies and colonists in North America. During the seventeenth and eighteenth century in North America there were two events that occurred that unified the colonists and colonies. They were the Enlightenment and The Great Awakening. These events gave the people of the colonies to have logical/ intelligent questions, individual freedom, and religious freedom. The Enlightenment gave people the chance to question and to search for the truth, instead of being told to accept and believe others beliefs and ideologies.
