The ghost is a call to action- an incitement to avenge a terrible injustice and satisfy his father’s last wish. Hamlet’s inability to take firm action is a testament to his proclivity for reflection and introspection. It is not from any want of attachment to his father or of abhorrence of his murder that Hamlet delays action, but it is rather to indulge his imagination in reflecting upon the enormity of the crime that has been committed while refining schemes of vengeance.
