There are 42 states with lotteries and together they pull 50 billion dollars annually which is used for school funds or helping the state. Americans bet 177 billion dollars on average on lotteries, which in turn goes to state funds.Lotteries were used in the colonial times for funds for army, roads and education. Lotteries have been used for thousands and thousands of years.
The lottery can be ethical way to provide money for state funds. The lottery help your state which is how some people justify the gambling, but all of that is true. The lottery provides tremendous income for the state. Some people would say that if they did not tax the lottery people could reuse the money and buy more products which would bring tax back to the state. The lotteries do not just help the states but help the people as well by giving the winner the huge amount of money which will last them a lifetime. Some people argue that they just should outlaw the lottery and just tax people less instead bc then everyone would save more money. The lottery is more than just money.

Some people that do not agree with the lottery will say that the amount is not enough because it has to be split among all the schools and the education budget is 7 billion dollars.
