“The FairTax Book” Review Taxes, one of the most controversial topics in American government. Whether you hate them, love them, or simply see them as a necessary evil, taxes have been around for ages and do not seem to be going anywhere, anytime soon. Much like many others, Neal Boortz, political activist, has found what he believes to be the answer to the major tax concerns across the nation. After being introduced in 1999 the Fairtax Plan made little progress on it’s way through congress. The proposal gained more attention as Boortz took interest in the idea. They wanted to spread the word about The FairTax, while convincing readers of it’s superiority to the current system. The two tackled this in a well developed manner that overall allowed them to reach their goal. While the history lesson the book gave was overdone, the book flowed nicely overall. It delivered the needed aspects to understanding the plan all in an easy to follow manner. The FairTax became an idea that seemed reasonable and believable on most levels. While the reader may still be left with some concerns, most were addressed throughout and at the end of the novel. Although the optimal audience for this book would come from those who have a general interest in the tax system, the novel was still written in a way that would allow for anybody to understand the FairTax and the ideas that make it up. The FairTax Book is a novel that allows its readers to gain a better understanding of the American tax code and one of many ways suggested to change it.
