Ishmael Beah illustrates pathetic fallacy by illustrating the image that the sky turned gloomy after the Lieutenant finished his speech. Ishmaels listens to the Lieutenant explain every foul act the rebels performed and the speech convinces Ishmael and the other children revenge on the rebels must occur. Beah uses the pathetic fallacy “the morning sun had disappeared and the day became gloomy” to describe the aura of the village after the speech. The children were enraged and filled with a sense of revenge after hearing the influencing speech but they were also still frightened of going to war and fighting and the gloomy sky represents their somber mood. Furthermore, Beah claims “the morning sun had disappeared…”.
David Zinczenko’s “Don’t Blame the Eater” is an article about the dangers of the fast food industry and their direct correlation to childhood obesity. Through his argument, he shows the readers that the consumers are not the ones at fault. He provides great detail on how the cheap and convenient places for food are the ones to blame for the continuous growth of diabetes in our youth. Zinczenko gives a well-balanced argument as to why this is true through his use of personal stories, dictation, and tone. Through this, he is able to effectively prove his thoughts and opinions, and also include the reader into following along.
Gretchen Weirob’s argument is based on the view that physical identification is more important towards personal identity rather than psychological features. For example, Weirob believes that a person can identify with their body because they can see their body and it’s certain capacity; the body is very rational. Which is why she would not want her brain to be put into someone else’s body. She believes the body is the unique differentiation to an individual’s identification. Her argument becomes clear when she discusses the idea that someone can be manipulated, put under hypnosis or delusional to think that a different body from Weirob’s is Gretchen Weirob.
Sandra Fluke’s opinion over this matter has impacted many people and she has, by some means, persuaded numerous people to agree with her opinion on this argument. On the other hand, Limbaugh lost many advertisers and suffered a major loss on his radio talk show. Duffy states how important it is to know how to speak in well-manner style in an argument if you want to accurately get your message across. The author states that college students need to know how to act in a mature manner when having an argument about a certain topic. Duffy talks about how students should have the capability to understand that when confronting an argument there must be evidence to back up the argument.
My meme is a red herring fallacy because an argument is brought up but the other side is is arguing about something entirely different. Montag states that books can be the foundation of a better society but the actual society is arguing something different. They are arguing that television is already the foundation to a great society. Notice how society didn't bring up books, they are switching the topic to television and not books. This is also a logos mode of persuasion.

Up until his untimely death, Piggy is portrayed as the most intellectual and most civil character in the group of stranded boys. Right from the beginning, Piggy realized that “[they] got to do something,” (8) and he recognized the shell Ralph had picked up as a conch.
