Mythology is a great way of exploring what may have been or might still be an influence to our modern life. The film Thor reveals some character very much similar to the readings assigned. However, the movie itself have opened up a few questions that I myself find very interesting. What if somewhere out there exists a portals that could open up the world of the gods to our own. I have never viewed the film prior to this class and I have chosen to do so due to its unending trails of “what if’s” introduced in such an exciting manner. Odin, the king of Asgard, reveals that “some world man believed to be home to their gods” in the movie. Or in the same fashion “different realms”.

What started off as a war loving soon to be king was confronted with such challenge. Having succeeded the test, Thor became a different god, which to my surprise, was an influence from a mortal. Intensified with what may have seemed to be love.
Whilst the treacherous fight against the Frost Giant took place in Asgard. The world below experienced a change in the weather which was influenced by the activities up above. Grave danger would have become of the mortals if Asgard and Thor would have failed the battle. Following the myth itself, the influence of the gods and the protection of the mortals are reflected in the film in a different style.
The film, although, took place in present time with the presence of the gods, reveals further suspense. Do they really exist? Are they up there looking down? What If science was to open up a portal and combine its magical findings to enter the realms of the gods? Questions! Are we alone? The mythological views expands our knowledge and creates further curiosity. When directors of movies creates new trails of thought so will the never ending queries we hold
