After reading 3 pages of this book, my heart dropped. As a result, when Annaleah visited her boyfriend Brian Dennis`s grave, I then realized he was dead. I connected to another text, from the book “The Fault in Our Stars”. In this fictional story, Hazel and her boyfriend (Augustus Waters) are in a relationship, where they both have life-threatening illnesses. I also found some similarities between all 4 characters! Annaleah and Hazel are both victims of the loss of their companion. They both have to go through the depressing and difficult stages of grief. Brian Dennis and Augustus Waters have sadly passed away, leaving family and loved ones shocked and heartbroken. I thought this because it mentioned how Annaleah was trying to find something black to wear. Because of the fact you should wear black to a funeral, I anticipated she was preparing for Brian`s burial. Also, if someone important to you passed away, I would assume that you would be going to their funeral. Not to mention when Brian`s father did not attend his funeral, I inferred that perhaps he did not care about him. Conceivably this could sound crazy, but why would Brian`s own dad not take control of him? Parents are supposed to do everything they can for their own child, but not attending his funeral shows that his dad does not respect
