Investigation of the Ferguson Police Reflection

The media say that there is a war on the police. This is not true, quite frankly, it’s the

other way around. The Ferguson police department does not care about their citizens. Ferguson is

a predominately black community which is why the police have made it their duty to make a

profit off of them instead of protecting them. The officers see free-speech rights as disobedience.

They either didn’t get proper training or are just ignorant racists if they see innocent movements

as physical threats. The Ferguson police officers have a pattern of stopping people unreasonably

without any suspicion. The only reason they have for these stops which they cannot say is that

Instead of giving out

warrants for murderers and thieves the warrants were for minor violations such as; parking

infractions, traffic tickets and housing code violations. It makes no sense to arrest someone just

because they didn’t show up to court for a traffic ticket.

A police officer is not supposed to have any racial bias, however the Ferguson police

department actually reinforces the racial bias and stereotyping. Their records show that they are

extremely biased against African Americans. There was data collected from the Ferguson police

department from 2012 to 2014. The African American population of Ferguson consisted of 67

percent. However, 85% of vehicle stops, 90 percent of citations and 93 percent of arrests made

by the Ferguson police department were made towards African Americans. African Americans

are twice as likely to be stopped than white people, but they are also 26 percent less likely to be

in possession of contrabands.

The Ferguson police department only cares about the money that

they make from basically looting African Americans under the pretense of ticketing them
