Introduction
Originally, the Ottawa charter outlined a series of actions which would potentially lead to “Health for all” by the year 2000 and beyond. As part of its framework, the charter strategically identified five key areas which if targeted and addressed, could potentially lead to significant health improvements right across the world via implementation and better health promotion. Health promotion is simply the process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve, their own health. The five key areas of the framework are as follows;
1. Building healthy public policy
2. Creating supportive environments
3. Strengthening community action
4. Developing personal skills
5. Re-orientating health care services
