Leadership is very important in the Guard because if no one is able to lead and take charge and make the best out of the situation, then no one can make forward progress. Teamwork is also very important in the Guard because it allows soldiers to bond and communicate better. Teamwork is a necessity as soldiers will be surrounded by each other and put in situations to work together in order to achieve a task. Adaptability is extremely important because the conditions and weather will not always be the same. If soldiers can adapt to their environment and adapt to the changes then they will not perish. Problem solving is another key factor because soldiers will run into problems all the time, but they will have to find a way to solve them in order to progress. Working under pressure is the last skill, and it is very important especially with timed assignments. I never considered the Marines because my great uncle was in the Marines and when I told him I was thinking about joining the Military, he said “I loved being a Marine, but I think I would have stayed in the military longer If I went into the Guard from the start.” I only spoke to two branches when I started the process of enlisting, the Air Force and Guard.
