The qualities of suspense building shown in “The Flowers” by Alice Walker are superlative in relation to the three stories we red. It shows superior suspense than the “The Dogs Could Teach Me” or “The Sniper” by a large margin. The textual evidence will surely convince you of the superiority of suspense found in this story over the other ones. The first quote is from “The Flowers”. It shows the otherworldly and freakish overtones in the passage This quote shows my point, “It seemed gloomy in the little cove in which she found herself. The air was damp, the silence close and deep.” What makes this writing incredibly consummate at this style of literature is how the author construes this air of suspense, and makes you feel like you’re in a
