The Industrial Revolution in Lynn explores the impact of the 19th-century revolution on the shoemaking community of Lynn, Massachusetts. Before the Industrial Revolution, those workers were part of a system of masters and apprentices with the household as the center of the community and of work. After the revolution, the apprenticeship system was broken, and workers became dependent on the factory, weakening the household as the center of life and work. Limits of class conflict and corruptness of factory employers, the workers went through hardships to improve conditions that held the community and its people together in equality.

As the Industrial Revolution came about in the early 1800’s and it had a big impact on not only how people lived, but how long people lived. From the British Medical Journal, The Lancet, the life expectancy of a professional was only to the age of 38, it was 20 years old for a person of the middle class or an average person, and for a laborer in the factories the life expectancy was about 17 years old. The Second Industrial Revolution was a phase of rapid industrialization that fueled the growing capitalist economy because it allowed the mass production of goods to be made more effectively. What I found most interesting in chapter ten was how manufacture and the factory system bought social class, increase in slavery and a great economy advantage to the united states. The industrial revolution transformed the us in to an urban society, it bought people from working on family-owned workshops to bringing together many unrelated workers under a same building. The widespread of machines wasn’t even bought up until after the factory type based society was stablishing. Factory stated just had a form of ownership and organize work, a centralization of manufacture under the ownership of one person or manufacture. This was one of the biggest economic innovation in the united states ever.
The second phrase of Industrialization would bring new countries that would begin to catch up and compete with the United Kingdom’s head start in the Industrial Revolution. First, corporations relied extensively on the government to provide military support to conquer far flung territories so the corporation can profit from its resources. The military was to act as a de-facto mercenary army for the corporation to make sure the shareholder profits are secure from both native uprising and other countries.
In Robert Marks’ “The Industrial Revolution and Its Consequences, 1750-1850” Marks goes on to describe the end of the biological old regime and the beginning of Industrial Revolution that mechanized the world.
