The Darfur genocide began in February 2003, and is still continuing today. Darfuri rebel groups, such as the SLM and JLM, are attacking the Sudanese and their government. They are “burning villages, looting economic resources, polluting water sources, murdering, raping, and torturing civilians” (Darfur Genocide). This violence all began between the groups fighting over oppression. After the government was accused of maltreatment, they fought back by doing an “ethnic cleansing” of Darfur’s non-arabs.
The Bosnian Genocide also known as the Bosnian War or Crisis is a direct result from internal and external neglect. In order for an attack to be considered a genocide a systematic destruction of a group of people because of their ethnicity, nationality, religion, or race must occur. In Bosnia and Herzegovina it did. The overthrow and collapse of governments brought forth new ideas and ideologies that allowed for an extremist goal of power to spread. A Life of Broken Promises: Environmental Racism in America My fascination to learn more about the environment began my freshman year of high school. When I decided to take a Marine Science and A.P. Environmental class, I discovered different types of relationships between humans and effects of the environment. I first learned about environmental racism from exploring different environmental policies across the nation based on demographics, specifically areas based on income in upper/middle to low class communities. A few years after graduating high school, the country was hit with the Flint Water crisis in Flint, Michigan, a prominently African American, low income based neighborhood.

This was prevalent in Rwanda when the belgians imperialized the land. The belgians sent the Hutus who were the majority of the population into slavery and lead to mass deaths of their people. But they lead the land through another ethnic group the tutsis who made up about 15% of the population compared to the 85% population of Hutus.
