The Giver by Lois Lowry, is about a perfect community where a boy named Jonas is chosen to carry the weight of something that makes him question him and his community’s way of life.When the book was made into a movie in 2014, even though it was well done, it had its differences. They almost created a different story. Despite this, it still matched the story we all have come to know.
You do not realize how much you take things for granted until you lose them. For instance, we take so much advantage of color, and they just pick things up that are all the same. They do not have the advantage of seeing color. Specifically, The Giver says “‘You’re beginning to see the color red,’ ‘The what?’ The Giver sighed. ‘How to explain this? Once back in the time of memories, everything had a shape and size, the way things still do, but they also had a quality called color.’”After Jonas learns about color, conflict starts to form. Jonas can see color, but nobody else in the community besides the Giver can see color and Jonas would like to share it, but he can not. Jonas has choices now, and he is afraid he might make the wrong one.

The theme of the movie was human emotion always pulls through. I know this because even though Asher can not feel things like love, he did not kill Jonas and lied to the chief elder to keep Jonas safe. For an example, Jonas says “Asher if you are my friend, if you ever were my friend, can you please somehow trust me? Trust me now.” As a result Asher replies with, “I do trust you Jonas.” Asher is showing emotion by that statement he made. Conflict was occurring in this situation in their
