Alan Balboni wrote a book called, Beyond the Mafia: Italian Americans and the Development of Las Vegas, which is about Italian-Americans’ involvement in the developing of Las Vegas but also explained about mafia’s role as well. Balboni mentions in his book about Siegel’s entrance to Las Vegas, “During the twenty years following the second and successful opening of Bugsy Siegel's Flamingo Hotel in 1947.” Siegel started to appear in Las Vegas by opening hotels which means he wanted to make his businesses look legitimate. Balboni’s book also mentioned about the connection between Siegel and Italian Americans as well. In addition, Balboni’s book focused on a role of Italian Americans in Las Vegas as well, because mafia was populated with Italian Americans and which means mafia’s contribution can be connect to Italian Americans.
The Godfather The concept of Verisimilitude seemed to fail for the most part with this movie. In numerous scenes, such as where someone or something died, the viewer watches an incredible dramatic and exaggerated performance play out before them, which is especially tough to imagine happening in their own life. Specifically, in the incident where the godfather is shot at the market, he dramatically falls onto the car, stops due to gravity, then flops over a few extra times before hitting the ground and moving again once more. Godfather Death In Godfather Death we are shown that a man who works day and night to feed his thirteen children some bread has to make a choice of choosing a godfather that will provide for his last child. During his search of finding a godfather, he encounters three people that are willing to be the godfather. The first encounter is God, he said that I will be the child’s godfather but his offer is turned down. Again the man continues down his path and again he comes across another person that volunteers to be the godfather this time it is the devil.

Fascist courts found it impossible to obtain convictions that the Mafia had been found of. When Prime Minister Benito Mussolini came to power, he hurled a ruthless crackdown on mobsters. He viewed them as a threat to his Fascist administration.
As a result, The Godfather ends up becoming a successful blockbuster, but it’s also artistic, and reflective of our society. The Godfather caters to both casual and critical audiences. Coppola uses graphic violence to draw in casual viewers, but he draws in critical viewers by having the film become a social critique of society. Auteur films are meant to give us a view of the world. In addition, the film draws parallels between the mafia and the police, by essentially stating that our society is corrupt.
Certain stories portray the main character as the epitome of complaisant behavior causing the audience to learn what types of consequences come along with it. The selfish acts of the protagonist in, Godfather Death, makes the protagonist in, A&P, seem like a love sick little boy. The protagonists in each story love their families and care for others not knowing that it will damage them in the long run, but their different acts of selfishness, lack of self-control and the inability to say no, ultimately represents the doctor as the worst out of the two. The doctor in, Godfather Death, is selfish and felt as though he could cheat death.
The Godfather (1972) is said to be one of the greatest films ever made. When this movie was released in 1972, it was nominated for Ten Academy Awards and it won three: Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay. The film was adapted from the book with the same name written by award winning author of mafia fiction, Mario Puzo. He gave his 13th son to Death to be his godson; since he was very poor. When the son grew up and became doctor, he tried to deceive the Death and as a result, the Death could not tolerate his action and took the protagonist’s (the son, or doctor’s) life.
